My Personal 'Cult Classics' | Ophelialune

December 21, 2015

We all hear about those 'Cult Classics', critically acclaimed products that everyone MUST have in their make-up bags, on their bathroom shelf, at the bottom of their handbags. Products that are sworn to have mystical powers- products such as the Bioderma Créaline H2O and the Maybelline Great Lash mascara. However, different products work for different people- these are just the ones that are a miracle to me.

Elizabeth Arden's 8 Hour Cream Skin Protectant The Original (Wow, that's a long name!)

I have the driest, most chapped lips in all the lands, during every season- this is the only product that makes my lips normal. To me, it's an essential if you like to wear matte lipstick! This also cures the annoying, random, dry patches of skin that appear in the winter after just one application.

Heard of the Bioderma Créaline H2O? Well, this is exactly that but for half the price and double the size. This even removes the most stubborn of make-up (Hypnôse mascara, I'm looking at you..), and best of all, you don't even have to wash it off. It's perfect for lazy bums (like me) and for those who want a no-fuss morning/evening routine. I think I bought this last year in the summer time, and there's still half the bottle left!

This foundation is gorgeous! It matches my skin tone perfectly and lasts all day. It has no SPF in it so it's brilliant for all occasions. It also has a slightly dewy finish which works great with my dry skin. I literally cannot fault this foundation in any way. I only use around 3/4 of a pump, which I apply with a stippling brush so this foundation lasts me ages. The coverage is buildable and it leaves a flawless finish. Both my mother and I repurchase this for each other every year, and there's no end in sight yet!

If you haven't bought this yet then you're seriously missing out. Believe the hype. Every single shade in this palette is well-loved- they are all so pigmented and silky on the skin! You can mix and match to your heart's desire as every shade compliments each other- I've had this for three years and I'm still creating new looks, both every-day and evening. Best of all, Urban Decay doesn't test on animals so they're a great brand to support!

This was the first mascara I ever used, 'borrowing' it from my mum's make-up bag as a young teen! Now that I'm older and have two jobs, I can finally afford to buy this for myself! When brand new, this mascara isn't the best as it's too wet and thick, but once wiping the brush off a little, this works a charm! I love the slightly clumpy look with long, thick lashes, and this mascara is amazing for that. However, it is a bit pricey at £22.50.

This moisturiser is just lovely, and actually works in hydrating my dry skin- I haven't had a dry patch in months after using this wonderful cream. It absorbs so quickly and feels so light on the skin, even though it is so rich! I use the no SPF version so I can apply my SPF separately when I need it. I can't recommend this enough!
