Mascara Review

April 20, 2017

It's been a little while since my last post (little? More like a whole year?!) but I want to get back into blogging again so here is my return!

I believe wholeheartedly that mascara is the best beauty invention ever made. If I leave the house with nothing but mascara on, I still feel good because having eyelashes makes me feel kinda put together. So today I thought I'd write a review of a few mascaras I've tried recently.

Lash Sensational Waterproof Mascara by Maybelline
I liked this mascara but I didn't love it. It's very black, lengthening and does lift and define my lashes. However, I did find the wand difficult to use. It made it difficult to coat the lashes at the outer corner of my eye which is where I like my mascara the heaviest. I know that the mascara is waterproof but it was very difficult to remove; it took three cotton pads worth of cleanser to get this to even budge!

Sumptuous Knockout Mascara by Estee Lauder
I liked this mascara a lot more. I found it easy to coat all my lashes due to the design of the wand and the result was lengthening and multiplying. I like the look of a 'fluffy' lash and this fulfilled that. The spiky tip of the wand made it effortless to get those hard-to-reach lashes which is an important feature to me. This mascara was very easy to remove with just one cotton pad. The only downside is that the formula dries out quite quickly, but you should be replacing your mascara every three months anyway.

Tarteiste Mascara by Tarte
The Tarteist mascara is similar to the Sumptuous Knockout mascara but it does take a few more coats to get the same effect. The wand again has a spiky wands, making it easier to grab every lash. The mascara was nice and lengthening, however it flakes off the ends after a few hours of wear. This was pretty annoying and meant I had to check frequently if the ends of my lashes were still there throughout the day!

Hypnose Drama Mascara by Lancome
This is my all-time favourite mascara. I've probably repurchased around 10 bottles of this in my lifetime. It's lengthening, volumising, lash multiplying and just gets better with every coat. The only issue I have with this mascara is that it's not amazing when you first buy it! The formula is a tad too wet and the brush comes out with far too much product on it, but after a week or so of use the mascara is perfect. This is a brand new bottle I'm using here so I'm not showcasing it at it's best potential, but whenever I'm wearing this mascara I always get asked what I'm using.

My two favourite mascaras here were the Sumptuous Knockout by Estee Lauder and Hypnose Drama by Lancome. Unfortunately these were both the most expensive mascaras as well, at £25 and £24.50 respectively, but you definitely get what you pay for.

Let me know what your favourite mascaras are!

Thanks for reading!

With love,
