Worth the Splurge? Hourglass The Ambient Lighting Edit Vol. 3

October 05, 2017

Space NK is probably one of my favourite shops in the world. I feel like a kid in a candy shop every time I walk through those beautiful glass doors. One of the reasons I love it so much is because they sell one of my favourite brands: Hourglass. Hourglass is a cruelty free brand that also has many vegan products- something that I think all brands should be trying to achieve.

The time has come again for Hourglass to release their holiday edition palettes, this year it's in the form of the beautiful Ambient Lighting Edit - Volume 3 and the Ambient Metallic Strobe Lighting Palette. While I wish I could purchase both of these, I managed to exert some self-control for once and just buy the one. And I'm in love.

This palette is just breathtaking (and not just because of the price!). Every single one of these powders is exquisite and has the same quality you can come to expect from a brand such as Hourglass. The palette features three powders already in the collection; two Ambient Lighting Powders in the shades Diffused Light and Dim Light and one Bronzer in Luminous Bronze Light, and three new powders consisting of two blushes (Surreal Halo and Pure Effect) and one Strobe Powder in Hypnotic Strobe Light. I already own Diffused Light, I use it as my everyday finishing powder and now I have it in miniature form that's perfect for travel!

L-R: Diffused Light, Hypnotic Strobe Light, Dim Light.
Diffused Light is the perfect shade for me in my untanned state, it helps to even out my skin tone by reducing the appearance of any redness, while Dim Light is perfect for when I've stepped outside or generously applied fake tan and want a lovely, candle-lit glow. Hypnotic Strobe Light is a stunning highlight that can be built up from subtle to blinding with teeny-tiny iridescent sparkles that reflect the light. It's definitely become my new favourite highlight. I can't say much for it being very long-wearing, but I may not be the best tester for that as I constantly touch my face and don't use a setting spray.

L-R: Luminous Bronze Light, Surreal Halo, Pure Effect.
The cheek shades from this palette are in a league of their own. Luminous Bronze Light adds a subtle, radiant glow to the face that warms up the complexion. It's definitely not one for someone who prefers a matte bronzer, but is perfect for making the face look healthy and sun-kissed. Surreal Halo looks purple in the pan, but swatches like a warm plum with a pearl shimmer. It looked a bit scary at first but it's actually the blush I've been wearing everyday since I bought it! The last product in the palette is the blush Surreal Halo, which is a bright pink with a pearl finish, perfect for getting a rosy glow!

Talking of roses, the packaging for this palette is incredible. I was a little disappointed with last year's marble packaging, which while being really quite pretty, in my opinion looked and felt a little cheap. This year the palette is rose gold, which matches perfectly with my Zoeva brushes and fulfils my inner perfectionist. It looks so beautiful and very chic on my dressing table, it's definitely one for display!

Space NK have their £15 off all purchases over £60 with code FAVE15 promotion on at the moment until the 9th of October so it's the perfect time to pick up this palette and save yourself £15 while you can!

Have you tried this palette? What are your thoughts?
