Current Skin Care Routine: Hydrated, Glowy Skin

November 09, 2017

Working for Estee Lauder definitely has some great benefits, but the best is access to incredible products that I would normally never be able to afford. I honestly feel like I have one of the best part time jobs you can have as a student, it's fun but also really fulfilling to make people feel confident and happy! Skin care is definitely where I would recommend spending a little extra as it is much more beneficial for your skin and quality of ingredients is key.

Currently, I am removing my makeup with either Garnier Micellar Water and/or Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter in the evenings. Micellar Water is probably one of the best skin care inventions ever, it's so simple and effective at removing makeup, perfect for lazy days! Afterwards, I'll use a cleansing balm to cleanse the skin. I love balms because they melt into an oil, which makes my skin feel baby soft and hydrated.

A favourite toner of mine is the Pixi Glow Tonic which contains 5% glycolic acid. Glycolic acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid, which, with regular use, can rebalance the acid mantle and encourage cell turnover, resulting in healthy, radiant skin. I find this toner also helps to eradicate texture on my skin, especially those annoying little bumps!

Next, I'll apply either 3 drops in the morning, or 5 drops at night of my Advanced Night Repair serum. This is my holy grail serum. It's full of my favourite skin-care ingredient, hyaluronic acid, which is a molecule that pulls moisture into the face by holding onto water on the skin, allowing the skin to absorb it. Advanced Night Repair is also a repair serum that helps prevent signs of aging, and contains anti-oxidants to protect your skin from pollution during the day. It really is a wonder product which I have multiple uses for, such as mixing in with my foundation on dry skin days! I pat the serum onto my face, and then use a jade roller to massage this into my skin. I picked mine up from Miss Patisserie in Cardiff for £15, a bargain compared to the Yu Ling rollers on Cult Beauty!

The eye cream I am completely loving at the moment is another product from the Advanced Night Repair range; the Eye Concentrate Matrix. This is the best eye product I've tried that has truly made a difference! Again, it's full of hyaluronic acid which helps keep the eye area hydrated, but this product also forms a protective web around the eye area which helps prevent any future damage to the skin that can be caused by squinting, laughing, etc. I have quite dry eyelids and this helps clear that right up, as well as providing a good base for concealer.

Moisturiser-wise, my favourite is Tidal by Sunday Riley (another hyaluronic acid wonder product!). It leaves my skin feeling and looking amazing but it is not exactly student budget friendly. I only buy it when Space NK has their £15 off £60 spend offer on to save a bit of money. In the morning, I like to use DayWear by Estee Lauder which has a little bit of SPF in it to help protect against sun damage during the day, alongside anti-oxidants and hyaluronic acid to support the skin.

What are your favourite skin-care products? (Anything more friendly to my budget? haha)
